Significant antioxidant activity
slows growth and inhibits recurrence of certain cancer tumors
This Turkey Tail Mushroom tincture is 100% organic, wild harvested, free of pesticides, and produced with a dual extraction process to break down the chitin for the best bioavailability.
Like other polypores, Turkey Tail contains polysaccharides, such as beta-glucans, that stimulate the immune system. This immunomodulating effect occurs through their ability to stimulate cytokine production. Cytokines are small, soluble proteins that act as intracellular mediators in an immune response.
In 2014, a review was published entitled "Immune Modulation From Five Major Mushrooms: Application to Integrative Oncology" reporting on just how mushrooms modify cytokines within specific cancer models and how those cytokines affect the disease process. This article also examined the direct effect of mushrooms on cancer and presented an analysis of how mushrooms interact with chemotherapeutic agents, including their effects on its efficacy and on the myelosuppression that results from it. For the 5 mushrooms, including Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor), an abundance of in vitro evidence exists that elucidates the anticancer immunological mechanisms. Preliminary research in humans is also available and is promising for treatment.
[tab name="Use / Dosage"]
Cancer: When used in combination with certain chemotherapy regimens, concentrations of the polysaccharides may benefit patients following surgical removal of stomach and colorectal cancers, but clinical trials in patients with breast cancer, leukemias, and liver cancer remain inconclusive as of 2016. Polysaccharide peptide is possibly useful as an adjuvant in the treatment of gastric, esophageal, colorectal, breast and lung cancers. Adjuvants of Krestin, an approved cancer drug in other countries (concentrated polysaccharides) are under study for their potential to affect cancer recurrence.
Known Dosage: Work with a healthcare professional to determine patient dosages for these benefits as part of a cancer treatment plan in addition to obtaining the most current information on cancer treatment options that include the use of Turkey Tail mushroom.
Immune System: Turkey Tail contains immune boosting polysaccharides and polysaccharide peptides that increase and activate types of white blood cells, working as an immunomodulator by both activating and inhibiting specific types of immune cells while suppressing inflammation.
Known Dosage (for Adults): 30 drops / approx ¼ teaspoon per day with or between meals taken in a small amount of water, coffee, tea or juice for 6 weeks at a time.
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV): A randomized study in which 61 people with oral HPV, of 472 tested, were treated in two groups. 20 patients in group 1 were treated with Laetiporus sulphureus (Chicken of the Woods mushroom) and 41 patients in group 2 were treated with Trametes versicolor (Turkey Tail mushroom) and Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi mushroom) in combination for 2 months. 88% of the participants treated with Turkey Tail and Reishi experienced the clearance of HPV, compared to just 5% of the group receiving Chicken of the Woods.
Known Dosage (for Adults): 1 teaspoon 2 x per day with or between meals taken in a small amount of water, coffee, tea or juice. May be taken up to 6 weeks at a time or until symptoms have cleared. As noted in the research, the combination of Turkey Tail and Reishi mushroom may offer better results. Combine and follow the same dosage plan.
Antibacterial: In one study, Trametes versicolor demonstrated the ability to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella enterica, bacteria.
Known Dosage (for Adults): The use of this tincture for a bacterial infection will vary depending on the type and cause of the infection. For general dosage, refer to ½ teaspoon 2 x a day with or between meals in a small amount of water, coffee, tea or juice.
Type 2 Diabetes: Turkey Tail extract exhibited remarkable anti-diabetic and anti-insulin-resistance effects (severe insulin resistance due to anti-insulin antibodies) in diabetic skeletal muscle. A study using rats with type 2 diabetes demonstrated that turkey tail extract significantly reduced blood sugar levels and improved insulin resistance.
Known Dosage (for Adults): ½ teaspoon 2 x per day with or between meals in a small amount of water, coffee, or tea. Evaluate blood sugar levels for marked changes and consult with your healthcare provider to make necessary adjustments.
Turkey Tail Mushroom is generally considered safe for long term use. Some unwanted effects have been reported that include diarrhea, intestinal gas, and darkening of fingernails. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, your healthcare provider should be consulted before taking these and other herbal tinctures.
